Do not feel required to announce your pregnancy to everyone as soon as you know. All women have their own comfort zone regarding when they want to tell everyone. Some women wait until they have reached the end of the first trimester and the highest risk of miscarriage is over. Listen to your heart and share the news when you are ready to.

Your nutrition now that you are pregnant, is more important than ever. Not only are you needing more energy and strength just to get through the day, but your baby also needs lots of vitamins and minerals to develop properly. Make sure you eat several solid meals each day and work in items from each major food group.

If you are pregnant, make sure to elevate your feet when you are resting at home. This helps to prevent swelling and take away the pains that pregnancy causes in the feet. Lay on your back, place at least 2 pillows underneath your feet and then put your feet up.

During the course of your pregnancy, you need to remove all caffeine from your diet. The harsh caffeine can, among other things, bring along a bad case of insomnia and create a consistent lack of required sleep. Try munching on crackers throughout the day if you are suffering from nausea. A balanced, healthy diet is a little difficult to maintain, but it’s important for good sleeping routines and should be adhered to closely.

When you want to avoid cramping, walk around before bed. Many women experience leg cramps during their pregnancy. Stretching well before going to bed will relax your muscles and avoid that agonizing midnight awakening.

A good sports bras can be an important item in a pregnant woman’s wardrobe. They provide extra support to your breasts and can help ease some of the pains and aches. Keep underwear loose fitting at the waist. In addition to causing discomfort, doing this can reduce the oxygen available to your baby.

Don’t drink alcohol while pregnant. Drinking any alcohol at all during pregnancy increases the risk of several birth defects and puts the baby at risk for fetal alcohol syndrome, which can cause mental retardation, loss of motor skills, and other problems. Consider drinking milk or tea instead if you are used to having a drink with dinner.

Take some time out for yourself. After the baby is born, your life will change and you might not have time for yourself. Go get that manicure, visit your best friends, or indulge in your favorite hobby. You’ll be able to take off a few months to spend solely with your baby without feeling neglected.
