There Are Certain Things That You Should Not Eat When Pregnant

By Mommy's Joy

One of the best feelings in the world for a woman is finding out that she is pregnant. Her mind is instantly flooded with baby pictures and joyful moments. It is best though to stay rational and make sure you do everything that needs to be done. This article will remind you of some of these things.

When riding in a car that has air bags, have the seat pushed back as far as possible from the dashboard. The closer you are to the dash, the closer you are to the airbags. Airbags can be dangerous to an unborn baby, though turning them off is more dangerous to you, so simply sit further away to balance these risks.

Start exercising for a healthy you and a healthy baby. Pregnancy is not an excuse to sit on the couch for nine months. Being active during pregnancy has been shown to reduce the risk of miscarriages and can help shorten the length of your labor. Keeping yourself active will go a long way towards having a smooth pregnancy.

It is crucial that you stop smoking as soon as you find out that you are pregnant. Smoking increases the risk of miscarriages, stillbirths and baby deformities. If you are having a hard time quitting, talk to your doctor about the variety of different methods that you can use to assist you.

Keep a record of how much weight you gain. Pregnant women are going to gain weight, but too much can be difficult to lose after the baby is born. On the other hand, not gaining the correct amount of weight can be dangerous for the baby’s development. Knowing what your weight is from week to week can help you make sure that you are on track for a healthy pregnancy.

Keep a journal while you are pregnant. This will be something fun to look over when your child is grown, and it is also a great way to keep track of what is going on. If you are writing everything down, you will be able to notice quickly when any big changes occur.

Preparing a room for the baby is very exciting for both parents. Just be aware you are pregnant! You cannot be around paint fumes. If you have to be in a room that is being painted, make sure the windows are open and that it’s ventilated well. It’s a good idea to have people help you to paint so that you don’t have to do all the work.

When pregnant, avoid reclining after a meal. This can help your prevent heartburn. If you experience heartburn, you should sleep with your head elevated by pillows. Try to avoid foods that are spicy, acidic, or fried. These can be the main causes for heartburn during pregnancy. Those types of foods can also worsen your heartburn.

If you are experiencing cramping in your legs during the night, do some leg stretches before lying down. Nearly all pregnant women report leg cramps during the night. Stretching, prior to turning in for the night, can ease your muscle tension and help avoid the painful night cramps.

Don’t start worrying if you aren’t “showing” your pregnancy for a while. Most new moms don’t start showing visible signs of pregnancy until they are in their 6th month. Subsequent pregnancies usually show earlier in the course of the pregnancy as the body has already been there and done that.

Your little bundle of joy is on its way, what a feeling! Don’t let the feeling of overwhelming happiness prevent you from being rational and taking care of what needs to be done however. Babies are a large responsibility, and sometimes forgetting one little thing makes a big difference. I hope this article served as a good reminder.
