There Are Body Changes That Can Be Expected While Pregnant

By Mommy's Joy

Much will happen to you while pregnant that you cannot control, but fortunately, there is also much you can do to help ensure a positive outcome. This article discusses tips to help you take control of your pregnancy.

You probably need to change your diet. If you were in the habit of eating a steady stream of fast food pre-pregnancy, you are going to have to make some serious changes. Eat more lean meats, fruits, and vegetables.

Sleeping can become increasingly difficult as you get towards the end of your pregnancy. Find a great body pillow or maternity pillow that works for you. These are designed to give you the full body support that you need as you sleep. You will wake up less often and have less pain in the morning.

When you find out you are pregnant the first thing you want to do is go to see the doctor, especially if you feel you have found out late in the pregnancy. This will make sure the doctor has a good look at your health and the child’s health and gets you on a program to fit the two of you best.

Sports bras are good ideas for pregnant women. They offer the breasts extra support and may relieve some of the pregnancy aches and pains. Don’t wear tight-fitting underwear. Not only will this be very uncomfortable, but it might also reduce the supply of oxygen to your baby.

If you want to wear your pants just a little longer, take a hair band and loop it around button hole on your pants. If you wear a longer top, nobody will be able to tell that your pants are actually unbuttoned. This will enable you to avoid wasting money on maternity pants too early.

Pregnancy can make a woman’s sense of smell more sensitive than normal, so ordinary smells may be unbearable. Try taking a scented handkerchief with lavender or lemon oil anywhere you go. You can use the scent as a buffer against odors that cause you to feel nauseated.

A tip quite often given to pregnant women is to avoid heavy lifting. This is a tip that ought to be taken quite seriously. Anything can happen to the baby in the womb, and it is important not to do anything that might put the mother, or the child, in a dangerous situation.

Avoid pesticides by eating locally grown organic foods. We don’t know how much effect these pesticides can have on a fetus but it is better to be safe than sorry. If not buying organic, stick with items with heavy peels like oranges as they are likely to be less contaminated.

Take some precautions when traveling by plane. The second trimester is often noted as the best time to fly, because you are not experiencing morning sickness as often, and there is less risk of miscarriage. Always speak to your doctor first and make sure to drink a lot of water on the plane to stay hydrated. Get up and walk frequently to help avoid blood clots.

Not smoking while you are pregnant is very important. The reason is simple: as you smoke, your baby is exposed to dangerous chemicals which can minimize your child’s oxygen flow. Oxygen is critical in order to help your baby grow healthy. Please don’t risk the healthy development of your baby just to smoke.

If you plan to return to work after your baby arrives, start looking into daycare options while you are still pregnant, especially if you live in a large city. Many daycares have lengthy waiting lists, and you may have difficulty finding an optimal position for your child if you wait until he or she is born.

As mentioned above, there are many things that you can control during pregnancy. By following your doctor’s instructions, you can protect your health and that of your child as your pregnancy progresses.
