Take Care Of Yourself During Your Pregnancy

By Mommy's Joy

Being pregnant can seem like a weight on your shoulders, but luckily, there is information that can make that weight a little lighter. Good information is right at hand, and you can start by reviewing the advice in this article.

Stay away from household cleaning products when you are pregnant. Inhaling these products when you are pregnant can cause serious health problems for you and your baby. Have someone else in your home do your cleaning, or, if you have to clean, wear a protective mask over your nose and mouth.

Quit smoking as soon as you find out that you’re pregnant, and avoid exposure to second-hand smoke. The dangers of cigarette smoke to your baby are so extensive that it is absolutely worth the stress of trying to quit during your pregnancy. The sooner you quit the less extensive the damage will be.

Don’t be afraid of the weight gain. You are going to gain weight. It’s not only normal but necessary. Your body needs fat reserves for breast milk, energy for labor and delivery as well as lots of extra fluids. Embrace the added weight and know that it will come off afterwards.

If you struggle with constipation, add foods that contain lots of fiber to your diet. Constipation in pregnant women is caused by the extra hormones. Avoid this uncomfortable condition by eating plenty of fiber!

Being sleepy in the first trimester is very normal. Your energy level will probably plummet as that baby is growing in leaps and bounds. Make sure that you get lots of extra rest. Go to bed early and if you can change your schedule, wake up later. Don’t be afraid to take a nap in the middle of the day either if you need it.

Take the time to do a hospital visit before giving birth there. Take a tour and meet the staff members. That will help you feel more comfortable and answer any questions you have. This can be particularly helpful to fathers as they are the ones who may do the majority of the communication with others during your labor.

If you have felt your baby moving around in your stomach, and then the movement stops for a few days, you should visit your doctor. Although this may mean nothing, there could be a problem with the baby that your doctor can help fix if taken care of in time.

Do not let stretch marks stress you out, as they are completely unavoidable for many women. While applying cocoa butter and other creams may help to lessen the itching and irritation that comes along with rapid stretching of the skin, they cannot do much to prevent the marks themselves.

Realize that “morning” sickness can happen at any time of the day and check with your doctor if it seems really bad. Most new parents are only affected by morning sickness during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is usually one of the first signs that a women picks up on to signify that she may be pregnant. If it is keeping you from being able to keep down any food, see your doctor for ideas on how to help.

Once you enter your third trimester, do a daily belly massage. Find a comfortable position, place some pillows behind you on a bed or couch. Use oil as opposed to lotion while massaging your belly lightly. Play some relaxing music and breathe. This helps keep you relaxing, and it is soothing to your baby.

It is crucial to take care of yourself and remain healthy during your pregnancy. This useful information will help you handle your new responsibilities in a healthy way, and ensure that you enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can.
