Solid Advice For Expectant Mothers (and Fathers)

By Mommy's Joy

With so much different information available out there, it can be hard to figure out what is the best way to care for the health of yourself and your baby throughout your pregnancy. The following pieces of advice will help make sure that you stay healthy while pregnant, so that your baby will have the best start possible.

Having a baby? Do you want to breastfeed? Do you need to learn how to do it privately in public? Specially tailored nursing clothing allows you to do so quickly and easily. Many maternity lines also carry “breastfeeding shirts.” With this sort of clothing, people can’t see that you are breastfeeding. Nurse at the mirror at first so you can figure out how to do it discreetly.

Eat for one! Many people think that because they are pregnant, they can eat as much as they want. This is not true. If you want to be able to get your body back after you give birth, you need to make sure that you only raise your calories by a very little bit (you should consume around 2,000 calories a day, no more!)

Sleep as much as you want while you are pregnant. Sleep is in short supply for the parents of newborns. Also, while pregnant, your baby is eating up much of your available energy. Don’t be afraid to sleep in, go to bed early, or nap when you want to. You won’t be able to later!

Try to get a bedtime routine going when you are pregnant, as this will help you to sleep. Following this sort of evening schedule prepares your body for sleep. Other things you may find very soothing include a warm bath or shower, quiet music, and/or massage.

Visit your chiropractor regularly. During pregnancy there is a lot of stress and weight put on your spine, hips and other joints. Do yourself a favor by having a regular adjustment. It will keep you feeling better, more limber and prevent those aches and pains of pregnancy.

A good thing to do when pregnant is to see your practitioner on a regular basis. This will not only help you in knowing about the things that pregnant people should know but it also will help you in knowing how to have a healthy pregnancy. This act can help in having a very smooth pregnancy.

Your pregnancy means the decisions are yours. Just because someone in your office or a distant relative doesn’t believe that you should drink coffee or lift something heavier than 20 pounds doesn’t mean they control your pregnancy decisions. Talk to your doctor and make your decisions with them. Ignore unsolicited comments from others.

When pregnant, avoid reclining after a meal. This can help your prevent heartburn. If you experience heartburn, you should sleep with your head elevated by pillows. Try to avoid foods that are spicy, acidic, or fried. These can be the main causes for heartburn during pregnancy. Those types of foods can also worsen your heartburn.

Change your eating habits so that you eliminate some of the junk food and fast food from your diet. When you are pregnant you will become more tired than usual, as these foods will only cause to make you more haggard. Do not give into temptations if you want to feel great.

Now you know several ways that you can improve the health of your body and your baby throughout the duration of your pregnancy. There are different types of opinions on what is good during pregnancy, however, by keeping this information in mind, it will ensure that you get the care you need for a healthy and happy nine months.
