Pregnancy: Tips To Help You To Maximize Your Joy!

By Mommy's Joy

It can be the most exciting time in your life, as well as, the most overwhelming. Pregnancy can be a breeze for some women but for some women, it can mean month after month of morning sickness. Knowing what to expect and what you can do to make your pregnancy as easy as possible, can be a big help. Here are just a few tips to, hopefully, make your pregnancy more enjoyable.

Eat for one! Many people think that because they are pregnant, they can eat as much as they want. This is not true. If you want to be able to get your body back after you give birth, you need to make sure that you only raise your calories by a very little bit (you should consume around 2,000 calories a day, no more!)

Learning to track your menstrual cycles are important if you are looking to conceive. Knowing your cycles helps you to know when your chances for conception will be most successful. If you have accurately tracked your cycle, you can also use your information to determine more accurately your date of conception and your due date.

Whenever pregnant, it is important to consume 300-500 more calories than usual to your everyday diet. The baby needs this extra nutrition, and now is certainly not the time to be counting calories. Eat healthful foods such as lean protein sources, fresh fruits and veggies, as well as whole grains.

If you are a smoker, now is the time to quit. Many programs are around to help you do this. Smoking can lead to having a premature baby. It can also cause your baby to be underweight. Babies need to start out with a strong start, in order to be prepared to handle this world.

Let yourself be pampered. Especially in the last few months you will probably be very uncomfortable. Check with your local massage parlors and day spas. Many of them will offer pregnancy massages that are designed for your needs. If you are past your due date some of them may actually be able to use pressure points to induce labor.

Buy new shoes. As your pregnancy progresses, the extra weight will throw off your center of gravity, putting additional pressure on your feet. This can cause both fluid retention and flat feet. Purchase some comfortable shoes that give you good support; they will alleviate some of the previously mentioned concerns.

As the pregnancy progresses, make sure you have a birthing facility tour booked in. Feeling comfortable about your birthing facility is a good way to have a smooth labor experience. Try checking a couple places if you can to see what you’re interested and not interested in. You will want to ensure the facilities are adequate enough for not only yourself but for the person who will accompany you while you’re in labor.

A pregnant mother should at all costs avoid any sort of drugs, whether they are alcohol, nicotine, or heavier drugs such as heroin. Your baby can and will develop a chemical dependency in the womb. This also is not to mention the possibility for birth defects. If you’re an expecting mom, stay away from drugs!

Take a child birthing class. These classes will help you near the end of your pregnancy. They will teach you exactly what to expect, and your partner should go along to. You will probably watch a movie of someone giving birth, learn a lot of new breathing exercises, and probably meet some new friends too.

Pregnancy can be an exciting and wonderful time for many women. The more tips and suggestions that you have under your belt for how to handle your pregnancy with a minimum of discomfort, the more enjoyable these next few months will be for you and for your baby!
