Some women consider pregnancy to be wonderful, while others hate it. Everything depends on perspective. But, it is possible to turn a bad experience into a positive one with the right knowledge. The advice here is geared to helping women who are pregnant enjoy this memorable time in life.

Use a cold-water bath for swollen feet. One highly common symptom of pregnancy is swollen feet and ankles, especially in the heat. A cold water bath can reduce the blood flow to your feet, which in turn will reduce the inflammation. It also cools you down and gives you an excuse to be off your feet for a few minutes.

Make sure to avoid household chores that can be harmful to your unborn baby. Pregnant women should not clean with harsh chemicals, such as bleach, climb ladders, and especially should avoid cleaning a cat’s litter box. Pay attention to your surroundings and get help for any activity you think might be dangerous.

Keep track of your menstrual cycles if you want to get pregnant. These cycles will provide you with the best times for attempting conception, and any kind of help will go a long way in situations like these. If you have accurately tracked your cycle, you can also use your information to determine more accurately your date of conception and your due date.

Pass off the cat litter cleaning duties to someone else once you have found out you are pregnant. Changing cat litter while pregnant can cause you to develop toxoplasmosis. While toxoplasmosis is generally mild to the mother, it can cause serious complications in the fetus. Be safe and just avoid it entirely.

Take a trip to the hospital that you plan to have your baby at. Tour the facility and become acquainted with the staff. This will make you more calm and inform you about certain aspects of the hospital. This is especially helpful for expectant fathers, because they will have to do the most communicating whenever the mother is in labor.

Avoid using over the counter medicines for digestive issues like heartburn, upset stomach and constipation. The more medicines we keep out of our bodies during pregnancy the better. Ginger tea, acupuncture and peppermint oils have all been shown to help with pregnancy stomach issues.

Drinking plenty of water is always a healthy choice and is essential during pregnancy. Many women experience dehydration which results in constipation and other difficulties related to it during pregnancy. So, make it your aim to drink forty-eight to sixty-four ounces per day and ward off the bad effects of dehydration.

If you get diarrhea while you are pregnant, drink lots of clear fluids. Dehydration in pregnant women is particularly concerning, because it can affect her baby and she may need intravenous fluids.

Stretching before you crawl into bed will help reduce the frequency of leg cramps. Many women experience leg cramps during their pregnancy. Doing some stretches before bed is a good way to stave off such cramping.

Try to rest as much as possible when you find out that you are pregnant. When you sleep, you can restore the minerals and nutrients that your body needs so that you can maximize productivity. When pregnant, you will lose energy quicker so sleep will play a large role in restoring functionality.
