Listen to your body. Some women will find that they need more sleep when they are pregnant, and others will find that some foods no longer agree with them. Don’t push your body to do something it clearly does not want to do. Being able to listen to what you need will help your pregnancy go a lot smoother.

If you are seeing a doctor for anything, you need to tell them that you are pregnant. Some of the tests that they perform at the doctors office can be harmful to a pregnant women, and they will skip these for you. Even if there is only a small chance you could be pregnant, you need to speak up.

If you’re pregnant, it’s important to eat plenty of protein. This is not only good for you, but also for the developing child within you. There are a variety of foods that are rich in proteins. Meats like beef and chicken contain a lot of protein, as do foods like tofu, nuts and eggs.

You will want to have the physical memories of the day you give birth for the rest of your life. Make sure your video camera is charged and ready, along with your digital camera. Remember to have enough media storage to capture as many photos as you could ever need.

Once you have determined if you are having a boy or girl it is a good time to start decorating a room and picking out clothes. The more time you have before the baby actually arrives to prepare the better because the room will turn out nicer and you’ll have more time to select better clothes.

When you are pregnant and your stomach finally starts expanding go buy yourself some comfortable maternity clothes. Your going to be pregnant for the next several months, so you might as well be comfortable. This also makes sure that you don’t have to keep buying new clothes as you continuously expand.

Listen to soft music and take a hot shower before bed time. Sleep can become more difficult the further along that you get. Avoid sleep aids and other pills by putting your body and your mind into a restful state before you even get into bed. A hot shower and soothing music will do this for you.

When planning to become pregnant, see you doctor prior to conception. Once you have seen the doctor and have gotten cleared to conceive, start changing your eating habits to include a healthy variety of foods. Start exercising now! It will help you stay in shape during the pregnancy and lower the risk of miscarriage.

When you’re pregnant, dress in clothes that properly fit you. Many women attempt to wear their pre-pregnancy clothing for as long as they can because they feel embarrassed to purchase maternity clothes. Wearing ill fitting clothes will only add to the new found discomfort you may already be experiencing due to a changing body.

A great pregnancy starts with effort on your part. It won’t hurt to keep learning though. After all, you are responsible for your unborn child; therefore, you want to ensure you are as knowledgeable as possible.
