Plan to tour the hospital or birthing facilities where you are going to give birth. This will give you the chance to have an active choice on where your child is born and also lets you know the ins and outs of the program. Make sure you feel comfortable with where ever you choose.

If it is possible, take birthing classes when you are pregnant. These classes help to educate you about what you can expect in the delivery room. Knowing these things can help make the whole labor process easier. Also, bring your spouse with you if you can so they will know what to expect.

Get your things together for your trip to the hospital when you’re into your third trimester. If you leave it to the last minute, you may find yourself in hospital with no personal belongings on hand. Make sure to have your insurance cards, camera and batteries, and a copy of your birth plan in there.
