Having A Baby? What To Expect Next

By Mommy's Joy

Having a baby is wonderful. The pregnancy can be hard at times, but you know that in the end you will have this perfect little baby. This article is full of ideas and advice on dealing with the common issues of pregnancy and how you can be healthier, happier and more prepared.

Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep each night. You need around 8 hours. Getting the right amount of sleep will help you to feel good, and it will also help your fetus to grow. During pregnancy many people feel very tired, and it is important to give your body what it needs.

You should change your eating habits to include healthy choices. If you change the way you eat now, when you become pregnant you will continue to eat healthy. You should eat a variety of foods but make sure they are healthy choices. Proper nutrition is important while trying to conceive.

Start exercising now. If you have healthy habits now they will continue during pregnancy. Exercise is important while you are pregnant because it keeps you healthy. It reduces the risk of having a miscarriage and also can make your labor easier. You should talk to your doctor before exercising while pregnant.

Don’t feel bad about needing to take care of yourself. You are growing a small person inside of you and you deserve to take a break! Eat more than you usually would, because you will need those extra pounds. Take a break after dinner and let your husband do the dishes. Its those small things that will add up and make you feel much better.

During pregnancy, avoid taking Vitamin A whenever possible. This vitamin may cause harm to your baby. You need to stay away from foods rich in vitamin A such as mangos, egg yolks, liver and mozzarella. A little bit won’t hurt, but it’s best to avoid them completely.

Add 300-500 calories a day to your diet while you are pregnant. Don’t forget you are eating for two so you definitely need to increase your caloric intake. Make sure however that you are adding healthy calories into your diet. Adding 500 calories of junk food isn’t going to do anything to help you and the baby.

If you’re pregnant, you should never be shy to ask for assistance in lifting heavy things. Miscarriages can and do happen due to excessive lifting. This didn’t even bring up the unnecessary back strain. Always get someone to help lift objects, never overexert yourself.

Consider swimming while pregnant. Swimming is an excellent form of exercise, especially during the last trimester, because it keeps your heart healthy and helps to ease muscle aches. The weightlessness you feel in the water is very soothing.

When you are pregnant avoid taking any over-the-counter (OTC) medication without first consulting your pharmacist. Several of the OTC medications can actually be toxic to the baby, if they are passed on through the womb. The fact is many OTC medications – can and will – be passed on through the womb!

If you plan on painting your baby’s nursery while you are pregnant, try to choose paints labeled as “no-VOC” or “low-VOC.” This distinction means the paints will release fewer volatile organic compounds — like formaldehyde — into the air, which is better for both your family’s health and for the environment.

Preparedness is the key. If you are prepared for what lies ahead, and have made plans on how you personally will deal with it, then you will have a much easier time of making it through pregnancy happy and relaxed. Take the advice here in this article and make your preparations now.
