Have A Smooth Pregnancy By Using These Tips

By Mommy's Joy

Whether you are expecting your first child, or adding to an established family, this article can provide you with tips to help you weather your pregnancy with ease. You may already be aware that not all pregnancies are alike. You should read this article to get a better idea of what you should expect.

Don’t be afraid to decline social invitations during your pregnancy if you’re not feeling up to it. Your family and friends will sympathize with your special needs. You might be surprised how fatigued you are, how often you need to use the restroom, or how nauseous you feel. Therefore, do not overdo it.

Stop smoking before you get pregnant. Smoking can affect your ability to conceive, so find something that will help you stop. You should talk to your doctor to see what recommendations they have to help you quit. There are many options available such as pills and patches.

Make sure to avoid household chores that can be harmful to your unborn baby. Pregnant women should not clean with harsh chemicals, such as bleach, climb ladders, and especially should avoid cleaning a cat’s litter box. Pay attention to your surroundings and get help for any activity you think might be dangerous.

If you smoke, being pregnant is the greatest reason you will ever have to stop smoking so find a way to do it now! As stressful as being pregnant may be, jeopardizing the health of your baby is a million times more stressful. This is a great opportunity to get medical help to quit and have the strongest motivating factor to keep you smoke-free.

Even if you are not yet pregnant, you might want to consider taking a prenatal vitamin. There are many of your baby’s vital organs, such as the spinal cord and brain, which begin developing right from the beginning of pregnancy. It is very important that you get correct amounts of iron, calcium and folic acid in preparation for and during pregnancy.

Do not avoid sex when you are pregnant. Many women are under the assumption that sex can harm their unborn child, but this is not true. In fact, sex can be helpful. Women have high hormone levels when pregnant, and having sex can help relieve some of the stress that these hormones give them.

Sleep whenever you get a chance to during your pregnancy. Difficulty sleeping is one of the biggest complaints women have while pregnant. As our bodies go through these massive changes, the ease of being able to get a full night’s sleep decreases. Take naps when the opportunity presents itself.

Keep a record of how much weight you gain. Pregnant women are going to gain weight, but too much can be difficult to lose after the baby is born. On the other hand, not gaining the correct amount of weight can be dangerous for the baby’s development. Knowing what your weight is from week to week can help you make sure that you are on track for a healthy pregnancy.

It is important that a woman takes folic acid during the first three month’s of her pregnancy. Folic acid helps create a strong nervous system for the baby and prevents Neural Tube Defects, including Spinal Bifida and Cleft Palate. For women who do not want to take a folic acid pill, you can find it naturally in green vegetables, rice, and peas.

As you have seen from the above article, there are many thoughts and ideas on how to deal with all the different aspects of your pregnancy. While not every tip may apply to you, you never know when something may happen that you are not prepared for. Stay calm, relax and enjoy all of the joys of pregnancy.
