Great Tips For Those Who Are Pregnant

By Mommy's Joy

Since there is so much at stake during pregnancy, it is important that you are educated on the subject. Collect as much information as you can about pregnancy including little tips to help you or a close friend have a good experience with being pregnant. The following article provides you with many valuable hints and tips to help you have a smooth and trouble-free pregnancy.

Quit smoking as soon as you find out that you’re pregnant, and avoid exposure to second-hand smoke. The dangers of cigarette smoke to your baby are so extensive that it is absolutely worth the stress of trying to quit during your pregnancy. The sooner you quit the less extensive the damage will be.

Don’t be afraid of the weight gain. You are going to gain weight. It’s not only normal but necessary. Your body needs fat reserves for breast milk, energy for labor and delivery as well as lots of extra fluids. Embrace the added weight and know that it will come off afterwards.

Do not skip your prenatal appointments. Every appointment that you have is a chance for your doctor or midwife to identify any issues while it is early enough to do something about it. Make your appointments your highest priority and do not allow anything to make you skip them.

It is important that you are able to recognize if you are in premature labor, so familiarize yourself with the signs. You need to know when to give your doctor a call, so read anything that you can find on the subject, so you are well informed.

If you’re pregnant, never change cat litter. Pregnant women should avoid handling soiled cat litter because of the risk of contracting toxoplasmosis. Cats are considered a host for toxoplasmosis life cycle, and if the infection gets passed on to their fetus, the repercussions for the pregnant woman could lead to birth abnormalities, stillbirth and miscarriages.

Eat healthy during pregnancy. Both the mother-to-be and her unborn fetus need a balanced diet. Because you are carrying a life within your body, you must take in more calories, about 300 more each day. Remember to eat healthy food products like vegetables and fruit and drink lots of water.

You will want to have the physical memories of the day you give birth for the rest of your life. Make sure your video camera is charged and ready, along with your digital camera. Remember to have enough media storage to capture as many photos as you could ever need.

Once you have determined if you are having a boy or girl it is a good time to start decorating a room and picking out clothes. The more time you have before the baby actually arrives to prepare the better because the room will turn out nicer and you’ll have more time to select better clothes.

Pregnant women should switch to wearing sports bras. They will provide more support for your breasts, and help to ease some aches and pains. As a pregnant woman, you should also avoid underwear that is tighter around your waist. In addition to causing discomfort, doing this can reduce the oxygen available to your baby.

Changing diapers, midnight feedings and lots of sleep deprivation are soon to take over your life. Get your rest now and take advantage of this pre-baby time. Go for a vacation or day trip to do things together as a couple before a sitter is needed to leave the house together.

The best way to prevent disastrous effects of pregnancy is you knowing the dos and don’ts. One of the best tips is simply not to stress. Learn as much about pregnancy as you can, and relax and enjoy the ride.
