Great Tips For Those Who Are Pregnant

By Mommy's Joy

It does not matter how old you are, or how many children you have, pregnancy is an awe inspiring, nerve racking, exciting time in your life. It is also one of the greatest miracles a woman can experience. Following are some handy hints on how to make the nine months as healthy and stress-free as possible.

Your OB/GYN or family doctor will recommend that you take a prenatal vitamin while you’re pregnant. Take this supplement regularly. These will give vitamins to your body that you do not get from the food that you eat, and it will enable your baby to be healthy while in your womb.

If you are trying to get pregnant, but are not yet, start tracking your menstrual cycles. This will let you know when you are ovulating, and will also be able to tell you what date you conceived on when you find out your are pregnant. This will help you to be more accurate with your due date.

Don’t feel bad about needing to take care of yourself. You are growing a small person inside of you and you deserve to take a break! Eat more than you usually would, because you will need those extra pounds. Take a break after dinner and let your husband do the dishes. Its those small things that will add up and make you feel much better.

A great thing that you can do, in order to have a healthy pregnancy, is to educate yourself. This is very important, especially to women who are pregnant for the first time. This can be done by reading books related to pregnancy and in the long run, will help not only when laboring but also, when preparing for it.

Keep your water intake to six to eight full glasses of water a day. Try keeping a large water bottle with you at all times and fill it up when it empties. As we know, water is incredibly important to keeping our bodies healthy and it becomes even more important when we are drinking for two.

Add 300-500 calories a day to your diet while you are pregnant. Don’t forget you are eating for two so you definitely need to increase your caloric intake. Make sure however that you are adding healthy calories into your diet. Adding 500 calories of junk food isn’t going to do anything to help you and the baby.

Pregnant women should never change the litter in the cat box. Improperly handled cat litter can infect a pregnant woman with toxoplasmosis. Cats happen to be the host for the life cycle of toxoplasmosis, and if this infection is somehow passed through the pregnant woman to the baby while in utero, the consequences could lead to miscarriages, birth defects or stillbirth.

Expecting mothers would be wise if they took the advice of taking a daily prenatal vitamin. In fact, most doctors prescribe them for expecting mothers! This is because your child has nutritional needs that often times due to the nature of pregnancy cravings are not met. This makes sure they get the nutrition they need.

Don’t use hot tubs or saunas while you are pregnant. Becoming overheated can endanger your developing baby. Some spas even use oils that can cause contractions early, especially during the first three months of pregnancy. Rosemary, clary sage and juniper need to be avoided at all costs.

Always ensure that if you have doubts or concerns about any part of your pregnancy, that you contact your doctor as soon as possible. We are confident the the above tips will fit you ease any stress you may have had. So, sit back and enjoy the ride, and the blessing that will arrive at the end.
