Great Advice For First-Time Mothers Going Through Pregnancy

By Mommy's Joy

Pregnancy is one of the most wonderful things a woman experiences in her lifetime, but also the most mysterious. A woman is normally pregnant 9 months (40 weeks). In those 9 months, wonderful and not so wonderful things happen, as well as confusing things that are hard to explain. In this article, we will discuss what should happen month-by-month, week-by-week, and one trimester after the next. Hopefully with the following valuable information, you will be quite prepared for what is to come in your pregnancy.

Make sure you adjust your diet so that you and your unborn child can receive the nutrients you need. If you eat fast food constantly before pregnancy, you have drastic changes to make. Starting today, eat more lean protein, fruits and vegetables.

Stop smoking immediately if you have found out that you are pregnant or if are trying to become pregnant. Smoking, as we all know, is incredibly dangerous for us but it becomes even more important to quit when we are trying to take care of a new life. Talk with your doctor immediately if you are having trouble quitting.

When you are pregnant, it is important that you continue to exercise. Exercise helps reduce the chances of miscarriage and has been prove to help ease the length and pains of labor and delivery. Also, by exercising when you are pregnant, you will help keep off the weight you may gain.

Exercising when you are pregnant is a wonderful choice to make. You want to start out early in your pregnancy, and remain consistent. This will help you lower your risk of a miscarriage, and can also help shorten how long you are in labor, as well as reducing the risk of having any complications.

It is important that pregnant women make a labor plan before the big day comes. This is because when a woman is in labor, she may not be able to make decisions like she normally does. Make sure you have a bag packed, pick out who you want in the room when you give birth and make a list of phone numbers so your spouse or other family members can call your loved ones when the baby is born.

Engage in Kegel exercises each day. This activity can improve your pelvic muscles, which affect your bladder, bowels and uterus. Kegels will help with your delivery, and they can be done just about anywhere, including in the car or at work. To do them correctly, you should squeeze like you want to stop yourself from using the bathroom. Hold this position for three seconds and then relax for three. Do this in sets of ten.

Those who are pregnant should be careful in the sun. Female skin is much more sensitive when pregnant and can sunburn easily, which can increase the chances of skin cancer.

If it is possible, take birthing classes when you are pregnant. These classes help to educate you about what you can expect in the delivery room. Knowing these things can help make the whole labor process easier. Also, bring your spouse with you if you can so they will know what to expect.

Write out your birth plan and make sure your doctor and labor coach have a copy. List out what type of medications you are willing to have and in what circumstances you want to move to different laboring methods. Of course, your birth plan is only a plan and if things need to change for the safety of your labor, don’t worry and just go with it.

All in all, pregnancy is an amazing, not so amazing, and mysterious experience. Women need to be prepared for pregnancy and know what to expect from it. Women also need to know how their baby is developing throughout the weeks of their pregnancy.
