Getting Ready For Your Baby: Some Tips

By Mommy's Joy

Pregnancy is usually a thrilling, and fun time in a woman’s life. Many people dream of the day when they will be pregnant, and have high hopes of how much fun being a parent will be. Pregnancy is always a subject that is surrounded by questions. The following article will help answer your pregnancy questions and offer some tips as well.

Stop smoking immediately if you have found out that you are pregnant or if are trying to become pregnant. Smoking, as we all know, is incredibly dangerous for us but it becomes even more important to quit when we are trying to take care of a new life. Talk with your doctor immediately if you are having trouble quitting.

Make sure to avoid household chores that can be harmful to your unborn baby. Pregnant women should not clean with harsh chemicals, such as bleach, climb ladders, and especially should avoid cleaning a cat’s litter box. Pay attention to your surroundings and get help for any activity you think might be dangerous.

You should increase your caloric intake by 300-500 calories a day when you’re pregnant. Pregnancy means you now eat for two. Eat healthful foods such as lean protein sources, fresh fruits and veggies, as well as whole grains.

It is especially important to protect your skin from the sun while pregnant. Pregnancy causes skin to become sensitive and easily burned, and that can complicate the pregnancy and even compromise health.

To relieve an upset stomach when pregnant, try eating several smaller meals. When your stomach has something inside it, it often feels a bit better. Eat light, fresh foods, too. Vegetables and fresh fruits along with lean meats will do you right.

Your pregnancy means the decisions are yours. Just because someone in your office or a distant relative doesn’t believe that you should drink coffee or lift something heavier than 20 pounds doesn’t mean they control your pregnancy decisions. Talk to your doctor and make your decisions with them. Ignore unsolicited comments from others.

When you are pregnant, do not use a hot tubs or saunas. An overheated body can do serious damage to your baby. Common spa treatments often incorporate essential oils, which can cause complications and contractions early in pregnancy. Clary sage, rosemary and juniper are three that should be avoided.

Write out your birth plan and make sure your doctor and labor coach have a copy. List out what type of medications you are willing to have and in what circumstances you want to move to different laboring methods. Of course, your birth plan is only a plan and if things need to change for the safety of your labor, don’t worry and just go with it.

As you near the beginning of your 3rd trimester, you should go ahead and get a bag packed for the hospital. Putting off this step is simply tempting fate. Ensure your camera, birthing plan, insurance cards, and all other essentials are packed.

For a healthy baby, it is important to see your doctor on a regular schedule. There are many ways that your doctor can insure that you and your baby stay healthy during the nine months of your pregnancy. Regular visits to your doctor are the best way give you the information you need.

You have just read a lot of advise on being pregnant. You will probably find that everyone you know, and even some people you don’t know, will give you advise whether you want it or not. Make sure to listen to your gut, and don’t take any advise that seems to be harmful to you.
