Change your eating habits if you tend to stay away from healthy foods. You want to be eating foods that have a lot of vitamins and that offer a lot of nutrition. All the food you eat your baby will be eating as well. This can effect the growth of the child.

Take some prenatal vitamins before you get pregnant. In the first three months of your pregnancy, your baby starts to develop its neural cord; this begins the formation of the spinal cord and brain. If your body is already supplied with the proper levels of iron, calcium and folic acid, your baby will get the best start from the moment of conception.

Don’t be afraid to contact your doctor if you suffer any unusual symptoms during your pregnancy. These symptoms include stomach pain, cramping, vaginal bleeding, and especially a decreased level of fetal activity. It’s difficult to tell if everything is okay from the outside, and you’re better off asking your physician to check if something seems strange.

If you are a smoker, now is the time to quit. Many programs are around to help you do this. Smoking can lead to having a premature baby. It can also cause your baby to be underweight. Babies need to start out with a strong start, in order to be prepared to handle this world.

It is crucial for a pregnant woman to stay as stress-free as possible. Not only does stress bring about a variety of issues to a pregnant woman, but it may also have the baby feeling stressed. In some cases, you will see the baby being born prematurely due to extreme levels of stress.

Taking prenatal vitamins is essential. Your body needs extra nutrition before, during and after your pregnancy. If you are planning on becoming pregnant, start taking these vitamins well before. If you are already pregnant, it’s not too late to start. You will still get the benefits of it. Keep taking them well beyond giving birth. At least until you stop breast feeding.

Realize that “morning” sickness can happen at any time of the day and check with your doctor if it seems really bad. Most new parents are only affected by morning sickness during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is usually one of the first signs that a women picks up on to signify that she may be pregnant. If it is keeping you from being able to keep down any food, see your doctor for ideas on how to help.
