Everything You Need To Know About Pregnancy

By Mommy's Joy

Having a baby is a wonderful experience. The joy of having a new life inside of you and the anticipation of what your child will be like. There are a lot of ups and downs that go along with it too though. This article has some advice on how to get the most out of your pregnancy.

Don’t put on too much weight while pregnant. By gaining too much, your health will be jeopardized later because you will struggle to lose all the weight after your pregnancy. An average size woman should only gain between 15 to 30 pounds during a normal pregnancy.

It is crucial that you stop smoking as soon as you find out that you are pregnant. Smoking increases the risk of miscarriages, stillbirths and baby deformities. If you are having a hard time quitting, talk to your doctor about the variety of different methods that you can use to assist you.

Avoid any chemicals that could harm your baby. Many cleaning products have a strong smell and can be found in your home, your work and anywhere else you go. When you breath in these fumes, they can harm your child. Use products that are only made out of natural ingredients.

Eat healthy during pregnancy. Both the mother-to-be and her unborn fetus need a balanced diet. Because you are carrying a life within your body, you must take in more calories, about 300 more each day. Remember to eat healthy food products like vegetables and fruit and drink lots of water.

Try to stay away from caffeinated drinks when you are pregnant. Caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea and soda can cause your blood pressure to become elevated, which can lead to serious health problems for both you and your fetus. There are a variety of different decaffeinated versions of soda, tea, and coffee.

Be careful when you travel if you are pregnant. You want to be near a medical facility. It’s crucial that you have access to a doctor during every step of your pregnancy. If you are traveling, ensure you have a cell phone available at all times.

Avoid hot tubs and saunas while you are pregnant. Women who are expecting should avoid getting overheated since it can put the baby at risk. Certain spa oils tend to trigger contractions, especially in the initial two trimesters. Juniper, rosemary and clary sage should all be avoided.

When you become pregnant, make sure that you inform your job, as soon as possible, so that you are able to file for a maternity leave when the time comes. This will allow you to prepare in advance and allow your employer to find a replacement, for the time you are out.

Signing up early for your childbirth class can prevent the disappointment of not getting the dates and times that you want. While the birth of your baby may seem a long way away, it is never too early to find the classes you want and make your reservation with the providers.

If you experience symptoms like blurred vision, pain in your right side, frequent headaches, very rapid weight gain, or cola-colored urine in the second half of your pregnancy, report them to your doctor immediately. You may be developing preeclampsia, a pregnancy-related condition that can be life-threatening. Your doctor may need to perform tests to check for protein in your urine, and your blood pressure will be closely monitored.

Taking care of yourself means taking care of your baby. There are so many things to consider, do and avoid while you are pregnant. The tips and advice presented here are meant to help you make this pregnancy one you will remember fondly as your child grows older.
