Baby On The Way? Read Up On These Helpful Tips

By Mommy's Joy

If this is your first pregnancy, there are many things to get done prior to the arrival of the baby. Getting your house prepared, can be a choir and fun at the same time. Seek help from friends and family and follow the advice below to make the transition from pregnancy to having a baby in the home flow smoothly.

Start exercising now. If you have healthy habits now they will continue during pregnancy. Exercise is important while you are pregnant because it keeps you healthy. It reduces the risk of having a miscarriage and also can make your labor easier. You should talk to your doctor before exercising while pregnant.

Watch your weight even when you are pregnant. Gaining too much weight when you are pregnant can pose a health risk to you later and make it hard to lose once you deliver. You only need to put on 15-30 pounds during the entire pregnancy.

Wear sunscreen while pregnant, even if you didn’t really require it before. Also steer clear of tanning beds. During pregnancy, your skin will become more sensitive, so avoid anything that is too harsh. Still, when you do put on sunscreen, make sure to wear a brand that was approved by your doctor.

Make sure the water you’re drinking during your pregnancy is safe. Tap water may contain fluoride, percholate, and lead, while bottled water may contain the same impurities as well as other chemicals such as BPA. Instead, invest in a tap water filter, and use a stainless steel or glass water bottle when out of the house.

Avoid any chemicals that could harm your baby. Many cleaning products have a strong smell and can be found in your home, your work and anywhere else you go. When you breath in these fumes, they can harm your child. Use products that are only made out of natural ingredients.

If you’re pregnant, ask others to lift heavy objects. If you lift heavy items, this may lead to miscarriages or even stress on the baby, and it may result in back strain. For these reasons, it’s best to get somebody to help you lift heavy things, even if you feel like you can handle it.

Do not take any medications when you are pregnant until you have asked your doctor if it is okay. Depending on your pregnancy, certain medications can cause you or your baby serious medical problems. Many antidepressants need to be avoided as they could cause your child to be born with birth defects.

Take a lot of pictures of yourself before the baby comes. You never know if you will be pregnant again, and it will be good to have the memories saved for you in photographs. Your child will also enjoy seeing these when he or she gets a little older. Be proud of the amazing work that you are doing!

Try to rest as much as possible when you find out that you are pregnant. When you sleep, you can restore the minerals and nutrients that your body needs so that you can maximize productivity. When pregnant, you will lose energy quicker so sleep will play a large role in restoring functionality.

For a healthy baby, it is important to see your doctor on a regular schedule. There are many ways that your doctor can insure that you and your baby stay healthy during the nine months of your pregnancy. Regular visits to your doctor are the best way give you the information you need.

As you can see, there are many things that you need to get ready before baby comes. Being prepared will give you peace of mind and be able to get your head in the right place without worrying if you have everything ready! Making sure your house is ready for baby should be crossed off your list before baby’s arrival.
