Advice To Help Ensure A Safe And Healthy Pregnancy

By Mommy's Joy

Many women that are pregnant can be overly emotional and scared, even if it is not their first time. This article will give you tips that can help you get through this rough and rocky road with ease. Remember to not over-analyze every thing you hear, and enjoy this special time that you have with your child.

Start taking a prenatal vitamin while you are trying to conceive, or as soon as you first find out about that surprise pregnancy. There are special nutrients that are needed by your baby for proper development. The sooner you start taking prenatal vitamins, the better chance your baby has of getting the nutrients he or she needs.

Avoid any chemicals that could harm your baby. Many cleaning products have a strong smell and can be found in your home, your work and anywhere else you go. When you breath in these fumes, they can harm your child. Use products that are only made out of natural ingredients.

Try not to wear clothing that is too tight when pregnant. This kind of clothing can actually cause your fetus to not get enough oxygen and make you uncomfortable. There are maternity jeans available for pregnant women. Also, when at home, try to wear sweatpants or pajama bottoms with a loose T-shirt.

Avoid using over the counter medicines for digestive issues like heartburn, upset stomach and constipation. The more medicines we keep out of our bodies during pregnancy the better. Ginger tea, acupuncture and peppermint oils have all been shown to help with pregnancy stomach issues.

Keep your water intake to six to eight full glasses of water a day. Try keeping a large water bottle with you at all times and fill it up when it empties. As we know, water is incredibly important to keeping our bodies healthy and it becomes even more important when we are drinking for two.

Try exercise classes that are designed for pregnant women. Staying active is very important during pregnancy but it is also important that you exercise safely. Going to a class that is specifically created for pregnancy means that you will gain all the benefits of the exercise without doing any damage to your growing baby.

Alternative remedies may be helpful for common maladies such as colds. The drugs you can purchase over the counter could harm your fetus. Check on the Internet for natural remedies to soothe such issues as nausea, heartburn and constipation. Your doctor may also have some advice to give you as well.

Stretch your legs out before bed to help prevent painful leg cramps while you sleep. Pregnant women are all familiar with that uncomfortable feeling that sometimes hits them in the middle of the night when their legs are in knots. Stretching, prior to turning in for the night, can ease your muscle tension and help avoid the painful night cramps.

When you are pregnant, one of the things that you will want to stop as soon as possible is smoking. Smoking can cause birth defects for your baby, so stopping immediately will limit this risk. Join support groups to increase the willpower that you will need to stop this unhealthy habit. You must also insist that people who smoke do not do so in the same room as you.

You have just read many tips on pregnancy. Some of these you have probably heard before, though some are brand new pieces of advice that can be very helpful. Use whatever you think will work best for you, and share this article with all the people in your life that could use it.
